Acupuncture to Turn a Breech Baby

At Natural Healing Wellness Center we have helped many women with re-positioning breech babies. It is important to start helping the baby to turn as soon as you know the baby is coming breech. Acupuncture and other oriental techniques can help the baby, but it might take more than one session to make him or her breech completely before delivery.

According to a study in 1998 by Cardini&Weixin , 75% of breech babies will turn if the procedure is performed between 33 and 36 weeks gestation. In this study there were 260 women in their 33rd week of pregnancy. Half the women received moxibustion (commonly known as moxa for short) treatment for 30 minutes daily for 1-2 weeks, while the other half served as the control with no treatment. During the 35th week, 75% of babies had turned in the moxa group and 48% had turned in the control group.

Labor Induction

Acupuncture can be a vital support before childbirth to insure the health of the mom-to-be, the health of the baby, and to insure the induction of the labor without unwanted interventions. For centuries, acupuncture has been used to assist women naturally during childbirth.

Its many benefits for labor and delivery include:

  • Cervical ripening
  • Optimal positioning of baby
  • Relaxing the muscles, tendons and ligaments in order to allow baby to easily descend further into the pelvis
  • Alleviating anxiety, fear, and frustration
  • Easing any discomforts the mother-to-be may be experiencing (i.e. heartburn, back pain/sciatica, headache, restless legs, etc.)
  • Maintaining healthy blood pressure
  • Boosting energy level for onset of labor

Postpartum & C-Section Recovery

This is an important time for mother and baby. We provide supportive treatments for fatigue, lactation issues, mastitis, C-section recovery, depression and anxiety.

At Natural Healing Wellness Center, we focus on nourishing postpartum treatments, acupuncture, individualized nutrition, and lifestyle counseling to fully support new moms. We know that when mom is healthy and peaceful, enhanced mother and baby bonding results.

Postpartum conditions include:

  • Insufficient lactation
  • Blocked milk ducts
  • Mastitis
  • Night sweats
  • Low energy
  • Postpartum aches and pains
  • Incontinence
  • Perineal healing
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

C-Section Recovery

Incision and scar healing treatments are especially beneficial to receive as soon after labor as is possible, to ensure minimal discomfort for mom. Pain and numbness from previous surgeries can also be addressed and alleviated.

Ideally, acupuncture treatments begin from two weeks postpartum, for a minimum of one to two months to promote stamina and efficient recovery.
